Welcome to Caloundra

>> An Introduction To Caloundra

Just 96 kms north of Brisbane, and blessed with great surf beaches and the calm waters of the Pumicestone Passage, Caloundra is the southern gateway to the Sunshine Coast.

This friendly, relaxed township boasts the widest range of water sports on the entire Sunshine Coast. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, fishing, water-skiing, boating, sailboarding and kayaking in the warm waters from Kings Beach, Golden Beach and Bulcock Beach, around into the protected waters of the Pumicestone Passage.

The unique estuary between the mainland and Bribie Island that forms the Pumicestone Passage Marine Park is a haven for wildlife. Spot dugongs, dolphins and turtles in the protected waters, and watch for migrating whales, or just relax by the channel in any of the wonderful parks boasting full picnic and bbq facilities.

Golfers will enjoy a round with the local kangaroos at the Caloundra Golf Club, or head to the Greg Norman designed resort course at Pelican Waters. Other international standard sporting facilities include the Corbould Park Racecourse and the nearby Kawana rowing circuit.

Get your heart racing with a tandem sky dive onto a secluded beach, watching giant crocodiles being hand fed at Australia Zoo or challenging your friends on the go-kart track. Visit Aussie World and ride the rollercoaster or come face to face with a legendary ‘man-eater’ at Underwater World.

Enjoy the charm and serenity of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Journey through the emerald beauty of the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve or the Hinterland Great Walk and discover the picturesque beauty of Gardners Falls and the Glasshouse mountains. Visit sleepy mountain villages featuring quaint heritage buildings, delightful delicacies and unique handcrafts.

Shoppers will be spoilt for choice between the Stockland Caloundra Shopping Centre and the local speciality boutiques dotted along the leafy Bulcock Street.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, you will find that Caloundra has a wide variety of restaurants featuring international cuisines or specializing in fresh local seafood. Savour other local flavours at Maleny Cheese, The Buderim Ginger Factory and at numerous award winning wineries.

Whether you want to do it all or simply lay back and take it easy, Caloundra is the place to be.
