The Sunshine Castle
Sunshine Castle, Courtesy of Tourism Queensland

Hear ye! Hear ye! Experience the romance and adventure of medieval times at the The Sunshine Castle at Bli Bli. The Norman-style castle is reminiscent of a time of serfs and knights, honourable jousting and brutal torture.

Imagine the flickering firelight and the smell of simmering game stew in the Great Hall as it is prepared for a celebratory feast. Explore the gloomy dungeon and the fascinating display of medieval weapons and armour.

Climb to the top of the tower and enjoy the views across lush farmland worked by the local 'peasants'. Visit the ornate fairytale depictions and imagine tales of mythical creatures. Delight in the detail of the European landscaped model train exhibit and the quirky Doll Museum before relaxing in the cafe.

Explore the scenic Mary Valley aboard the 'Valley Rattler', a fully restored 1920s steam locomotive. Travel through spectacular countryside over the Mary River, past pineapple plantations, timbered gorges and meandering waterways.

Visit the original railway stations of Amamoor, Dagun, Imbil and Kadanga, now restored to their former glory, and view the pictorial history of the Mary Valley line. Lunch at one of the local cafes along the way, or return to the heritage town of Gympie for a meal at the Railway Hotel. Stroll around the Imbil Sunday Markets, enjoying the country hospitality.
